How Much Am I Going To Save At Aldi?

As promised, here's a price comparison of a few items I picked up last week - keep in mind that prices vary by region and store, so your actual savings may be a bit more or less than mine. This is just a quick, random sample. Let's see how I did...

Total ALDI cost: $11.80
Total national brand cost: $20.70
Total amount I saved on these ten items: $8.90!!!

So as you can clearly see, I'm saving money by shopping at Aldi. But, its no real savings if nobody will eat the stuff. Are the Aldi products any good? How do they measure up quality-wise with the national brands? Are they a good value?

Which Aldi products do you love - and which ones would you absolutely, under any circumstances, never, ever buy again? Let me know in the comments...

* Berryhill Peanut Spread contains added palm oil, so per FDA rules, must be labeled as "Spread" not "Peanut Butter". But note: the Berryhill product contains less fat, fewer calories, and less sodium, as well as more Calcium and Iron. It also has 2g more carbs and sugar per serving than the national brand.

  1. I really like the trail mixes, nuts, refrigerated crab meat (when they have it), pot pies, boxed fried chicken, and last but not least CHOCOLATE. Aldi's has the best chocolate.

I like this little Mentos-like candies.

  2. I did a side-by-side comparison once between Blue Diamond Almonds and the Southern Grove Almonds from Aldi. The ones from Aldi were fresher and tastier than the MUCH more expensive Blue Diamonds. I think all their nuts and trail mixes are fabulous!

  3. I do 80% of my shopping at Aldi and always have. My husband actually asked me the other day, "when you are you going to go to Aldi so you can get some of the good oatmeal". He has always been a "brand name" shopper until we got married and now he thinks the Quaker brand oatmeal is terrible compared to the Millville brand.

  4. OMG I walked in the store for the first time ever and it was VERY clean and the low prices for all the products were mind blowing. I found chips, cookies, soups, canned goods, fruit drinks and more well under the prices for similar items at larger chains. They even had some electronics for great prices. Benton's cookies are amazing, the corn chips were delicious and Ramen noodle soups are always good. I will do 90% of my shopping at Aldi's from now on.
