Aldi Review: Millville Honey Crunch 'n Oats Breakfast Cereal

To say that Aldi does a pretty good job with their breakfast cereal is a bit of an understatement. Although I haven't tried all of them, every single one that I have tried has been outstanding! They stock MANY different varieties all the time, and regularly offer others as part of their weekly Special Buys.

Most varieties are modeled after national name brands that you would probably be familiar with - the Millville Honey Crunch 'n Oats is the Aldi version of Post's Honey Bunches of Oats.

Millville Honey Crunch 'n Oats

Post's Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds has been one of my favorite cereals for several years, and I'm glad to report that Aldi's Millville Honey Crunch 'n Oats is every bit as good - in fact, I prefer it! The flakes are nice and crispy, the oat clusters are crunchy and actually taste like oats, and the almond slivers taste fresh. The cereal is sweet, to be sure - if you're in the habit of adding sugar to your cereal, be sure to taste this before you do. You'll probably find it doesn't need any extra sweetening - but that's up to you!

I took a quick look at the nutrition facts listing on the side of the box, and comparing it to the info I found at the website Calorie Count, the cereal from Aldi is LOWER in sodium than the national brand, and is HIGHER in vitamins and nutrients such as vitamins A and C, and iron. Naturally, I didn't do a complete scientific analysis, I just compared labels like you'd do in a store.

If you're a fan of Post's Honey Bunches of Oats, I would definitely recommend you try Millville Honey Crunch 'n Oats. The cereal is fabulous, and you're going to pay significantly less at Aldi than you would pay for the national brand!

  1. I find the Aldi's cereals expensive compared to doing sales at your local grocery with coupons. General Mills and Kellogg's has deals where you buy 6 to 8 boxes and get $10 off and free milk or some such and it winds up being cheaper than Aldi's or any other noname cereal and you get the name brand. I do have to admit though, there isn't many sales on Post, which is why I don't eat Post much. Did have a good sale a few months ago of buy 5 boxes for $10 and get a $5 catalina off your next order. (Stupid me though lost/forgot to use the $5 catalina.)

  2. Hey, sounds like you've got a situation that works for you - by all means, work it! I'm afraid I don't see those kinds of deals often where I live, and I just don't have the time and mental energy required to get the most out of couponing. Plus, in the case of the Aldi cereal, I prefer it anyway!

  3. Ooo, I agree Jeff, I never see those deals around where we are at! She is lucky!!! Have you tried the pizza dough, I am afraid I had a terrible experience with it...it came out in a sticky lump, but I got my money back and they offered a substitute product when I said I didn't care to get another. Can't beat that! I got a bag of apples instead. I like that kind of gaurantee! Rosie

  4. You know, with that kind of guarantee - there really is NO reason not to try a product.

I have not tried the pizza dough, but I did try the roll of garlic breadsticks they had as a Special Buy a couple of weeks ago - I do remember they came out of the roll a little sticky, but I was able to make them work.

About the cereal - I went in to a different grocery store (ShopRite) to get some Diet Pepsi the other day, and I walked down the cereal aisle. I noticed that the Honey Bunches of Oats was priced at $4.59 here! Couldn't believe it...
