Aldi Review: Beaumont Pumpkin Spice Ground Coffee

Fall is certainly in the air - overnight temperatures here are in the 40's, and the leaves on the trees are turning beautiful shades of red and gold. As I mentioned last week, Aldi has started stocking their autumn seasonal products. In fact, many are featured in this week's sales flyer. I picked up a few of these items on my last trip to Aldi, so it's time for a review!

Let's start with the Aldi Beaumont Pumpkin Spice Ground Coffee...

Aldi Beaumont Pumpkin Spice Ground Coffee

It comes in a 12oz package which makes up to 40 six ounces cups. According to the package, it's a light roast coffee, with "the aroma of cinnamon and nutmeg with the flavor of homemade pumpkin pie".

I posted a review of the Beaumont Donut Store Coffee back in August - I liked that one a lot. Unfortunately. I found the Pumpkin Spice coffee to be a bit lacking. I couldn't taste much of the spiced flavor at all. Although the nutmeg flavor did linger in my mouth as an aftertaste and I thought I detected the barest hint of clove, I didn't taste any cinnamon flavor whatsoever. I also thought the coffee base itself had an unpleasant acidic edge to it - all in all, NOT a satisfying cup of coffee, and not a good value. I won't be buying this again.

I think I can make a better spiced coffee by starting with the Beaumont Donut Store coffee, and simply adding cinnamon and a little pumpkin pie spice before brewing - I bet that would make a nice cup.

Sounds like a good experiment to try this weekend!
